Port Alice is a very old ‘Mill Town’ .
At the turn of the century, Port Alice was located at the present Mill site at the end of the road: first, it was a floating logging camp and
later became a permanent village called “Port Alice”.
In the 1960’s, Port Alice was moved to its present site……….Rumble Beach. But, the old name of Port Alice remains.
During your stay in Port Alice, we recommend you :
Walk the beautiful sea-walk. This was built by volunteers in 1999 and is about 3 km. long. Often you will see seals, eagles and occasionally, if you are really lucky, a whale.
Visit the Heritage Room next to the Village Office. Here you will see a lot of the history as well as the terrific talents of many local artists, a great place to buy ‘made in Port Alice’ souvenirs.
Have a picnic in the park, look for starfish, seals and a sea otter
Go whale watching
Go on a fishing charters / eco tours
